A daily perception practice

You will notice more.

Percore is a two-minute daily practice that calibrates four senses — colour, pitch, duration and space. You memorise. You recreate. You find out exactly how close you were.

Before you read any further

Try one round.

Two of the four exercises, straight from the app and shortened to three rounds each. Something is shown or played, it goes away, and you reproduce it. People are usually surprised — in both directions.

An interactive audio demo. A tone plays, then you match its pitch with a slider. The slider announces its frequency in hertz, and every result is given as text as well as sound.

Demo

Three tones, from memory.

A tone plays once. Then you find it again by dragging — the pitch follows your finger as you move.

Check your volume before you start. This plays a sine tone through your speakers or headphones. The control below is set to a moderate level — turn it down first if you are wearing headphones.

Sound only starts when you press the button — never on page load.

If you cannot use the audio, this demo cannot measure anything for you — and it will not pretend to. It is described in words on the senses page.

The four

Four senses, measured the same way.

Each one is its own short session in the app. The shape never changes: something is shown or played, it goes away, you reproduce it, and you see the difference between what was there and what you made.

  • Colour

    Vision

A colour fills the screen, then disappears. You rebuild it with hue, saturation and brightness — and find out which of the three you were actually reading.

Scored by distance in hue, saturation and brightness

  • Pitch

    Hearing

A single tone plays once. You find it again by dragging a waveform, and the pitch glides under your finger as you move.

Scored by cents — the musical distance between two pitches

  • Duration

    Timing

Something breathes for a while and stops. You press and hold until it feels like the same length. No numbers, no clock — you only have the feeling of it.

Scored by error relative to the length you were given

  • Shape

    Spatial

A triangle sits somewhere on a grid, turned and sized. It vanishes. You move, rotate and scale it back to where it was.

Scored by position, rotation and scale, weighted

The daily practice

Four short sessions, in the same order, every day.

Five rounds each. The same targets for everyone on the same day, so a session is comparable to yesterday's and to anyone else's.

  1. Memorise

A few seconds with the target and nothing else on screen. No controls yet — looking is the whole task.

  2. Recreate

The target is gone. You rebuild it with real controls: sliders, a waveform, a held press, a triangle you can drag.

  3. Notice

Yours and the original, side by side, with the actual distance between them. This is the part that teaches.

  4. Return

Tomorrow the targets are new. Nothing expires, nothing is lost, and a missed day costs you nothing but the day.

What accumulates

Progress you can feel, not a number you have to take on faith.

Every session leaves a reading: your recent average for that sense, how it has moved, and a short written line about what changed. There is no single composite score on the home screen, because no one can feel a blended number — and a number nobody can feel is a number nobody should be asked to trust.

  • A reading, not a verdict

One plain sentence after each session, drawn from your own history. When there is nothing true to say yet, it says that instead of inventing something.

  • Self-relative, always

You are compared with your own recent weeks, never with a population. A slip is shown in a muted tone, never in red.

  • Drift, not decay

Leave a sense alone for a while and Percore lowers its confidence in the reading — it never lowers the reading itself. You did not get worse because you were busy.

Who it is for

Built for people who look closely.

Designers arguing about two greys. Photographers who can see a quarter-stop. Musicians who hear the room. Architects, editors, colourists, anyone whose work rests on a judgement they cannot quite explain.

None of that is a requirement. The exercises are four simple tasks with honest scoring, and they work exactly the same for someone who has never thought about any of this — which is most people, most of the time.

You can't practise a sense you never measure.

Plainly

What Percore is, and what it is not.

What is Percore, exactly?

A daily practice with four short exercises. Each one shows or plays something, takes it away, and asks you to reproduce it. You get an accuracy score for each round and a reading that describes how your recent sessions have moved. That is the entire product.

Is this brain training?

No, and we are careful about this. Percore makes no claim about intelligence, memory, focus, or any benefit that carries over to work or life. It does not diagnose, treat or assess anything medical. What it measures is narrow and literal: how close your reproduction was to the target you were just given. We show you that, over time. We do not tell you what it means about you.

Do I have to pay?

No. The daily practice is free, along with your session scores, streak, per-sense averages, the radar, and the daily reading. Percore Pro adds unlimited practice outside the daily ritual, the weekly reading, week-over-week comparison, and longer history.

How long does it take?

A single sense is five rounds — roughly half a minute. All four is about two minutes. It is designed to be finished, not to be lingered in.

Is it only for creatives?

It is written for them, because they are the people who already care about this and already argue about it. But nothing in the exercises assumes any training. They are four ordinary tasks scored honestly.

What if I am colourblind, or hard of hearing?

Some exercises will be harder or will not be meaningful for you, and Percore should say so rather than score you badly and stay quiet about why. The other senses are unaffected — timing and spatial accuracy do not depend on either. In the app every exercise is operable with VoiceOver and respects Reduce Motion and Dynamic Type.

Do the scores mean anything on their own?

Only relative to you. A 78 on colour is not a rank, a percentile, or a statement about anyone else. It is one measurement in your own series, and the series is the point.

What do you do with my data?

The practice runs on your device. We do not sell data, and we do not build advertising profiles. What we collect and why is written out in full on the privacy page, in the same plain language as everything else.
